Lodging your application
Applications may be lodged between 8:30 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday. No appointment is necessary.

Completed applications can be lodged in person at the Australian Embassy in Beijing or the Consulates-General in Shanghai and Guangzhou .

If you are not a resident in Beijing , Shanghai or Guangzhou , there is an option for renewal of Australian passports by mail, with the exception of the following:

• Mailed applications with incomplete supporting documentation;
• Those applicants applying for their first adult passport since turning 18;
• Applications for renewal of a passport with a validity of less than two years;
• All application for children's passports (one parent must attend a passport issuing office for an interview on behalf of the child); or
• Applications to replace Lost or Stolen Passports.

The Authorised Officer has the discretion to request any applicant who is applying for a passport to attend the Embassy for a personal interview.
